Where have you been?

I know what you are thinking. You just read a post about finding time to write and then this guy doesn’t post anything for more than a week. I felt the same way when I thought about it tonight, so here I am.

The truth is I have been writing. Not blog posts, but still writing. I’ve also been doing some other things, stuff that helps me recharge my batteries. Here is what I’ve been up too.

  • Writing my debut novel.
  • Writing code (it is my day job)
  • Video Games!

Let’s dive into some detail about each one. Trust me this is going somewhere.

The Book

I’ve been spending at least an hour or two a day working on my book. I haven’t gone into doo much detail about what it is yet, but it’s a dystopian science fiction story about a man who looses pieces of his identity and is fighting to get it back, as well as the people who took it from him. I’m currently working on chapter ten of what I think will be about fifteen chapters. The whole process of writing this has been one of the more rewarding things of my life. After I get it all down on the page I know I will have tons of edits to make, but I think soon I’ll have enough of it done where I can share some of it here.

Writing Code

I love writing code, but lately I’ve been writing less but producing more. We started using a product called Devin AI. After two months of using it and working Devin into my workflow I’ve been able to more than triple my output. You read that right, TRIPLE. I was doing really well using CoPilot to help me write code, but this is truly next level. It’s shown me how much AI can help our productivity and made me want to create tools for people to help them accomplish what they want to do faster than anyone thought possible.

Video Games

I recently borrowed The Legend of Zelda : Tears of the Kingdom from my local library. It was news to me that libraries still did that, but I was so very excited that they do, and that they had this game. I bought my switch way back when it came out so I could play the first installment called Breath of the Wild. I played that game into the ground. I beat the game, got all the seeds, completed every puzzle, finished the expansions, everything. If you’ve ever played that you know how much time that took.

So far I’ve had this game for two weeks and I just completed the second temple tonight. I have two more to go, and a big final boss fight, and likely lots of side quests and shrines to go till I’m “done”. I might not 100% this game because at some point it will need to be brought back to the library and someone else will want to borrow it. I’m ok with it though, I’m able to play it for free and these days that’s not nothing.

What’s Next?

Honestly, I’m not sure. This weekend I plan on doing more writing and more video games for sure. Is there a blog post you would like to see, or some topic I should dive into? Leave a comment below and maybe I’ll get inspired.
